A sampled intro full of barking dogs followed by a low and warm man who sings in an almost parlando way slowly bursting into an up-tempo but weird and theatrical avant pop-song! this is Phèdre (from Monaco, oh yeay) with their single Afrodite...all a bit based on Greek mythology and later adapted by Racine...as many background layers as there are in their music!
They love to describe them by the words "LOVE, TEARS + GOLD" and if you wanna try to find out where they come from they will mysteriously tell you they are the "lovers from Monaco, raised in a cave of gold"!
Their self-titled album came out already in January and you can stream in on their website!
They also signed with Canadian indie label Daps Records, who just released a sampler with the up-coming artists of their label! A lot of names you will see pop-up again soon in the blogosphere!
They sound a bit like Wild Beasts but with more fun in what they are doing!
